I'm in Listening Lab 109 right now, and I wanna share some informations about Identity theft with you. I hope nobody have to use these informations.
IDENTITY CHRISIS: Protect Your Identity
If you do not want to be a victim of ‘Identity Theft’
- Don’t use blue mail box, because some people can have your personal information on that.
- Don’t throw financial statements and credit card documents out. Burn or shred them all.
- Check your credit card reports out after the big shoppings.
- Don’t give to internet or people at the phone any information about personal information, social security number etc.
- If you are a victim of identity theft, you should report this situation to USPS.COM/POSTALINSPECTORS
DETER DETECT DEFEND AGAINST IDENTITY THEFT
Deter
- Everyone should be careful about trashes.
- Everyone should destroy all temporary documents about credit card, health insurance, etc.
- Everyone should protect social security number somehow.
- Never give out personal information on the phone or internet unless you know who you are dealing with.
Detect
- Check your credit reports at http://www.annualcreditreport.com/
- Review your financial account regularly
- Look for charges you didn’t make.
Defend
- Place a fraud alert on your credit report
- Close account.
- File a police report
- Contact the www.ftc.gov/idtheft or 877-ID-THEFT
